Road Work Experience
Over recent years Parkinson Group (Aust) has completed numerous road construction and rehabilitation works for VicRoads, local councils and builders.
These works have incorporated all aspects of roadway and car park construction. This includes:
demolition of existing pavements and structures,
excavation,
drainage works and pits,
concrete and bluestone works including kerbs, crushed rock and asphalt pavements,
lighting works,
steel structures,
line marking and roadside infrastructure including signs, seating, bins, bike racks etc.
All works are correctly signed with traffic management plans developed and implemented to minimise disturbance to the travelling public.
These many and varied works have resulted in an experienced, talented company, which promotes the need for high quality workmanship and safety on site at all times. This experience is paramount to the effective planning and execution of all company works, to determine the most effective and innovative solutions to the client's construction and maintenance requirements.
Eye for detail:
Parkinson Group (Aust) personnel are well experienced at completing handwork laying for more specialist works. The company is a preferred contractor with Theiss/Alstom, asphalting level crossings and pedestrian ramps and station platforms for the rail and tram network. Handwork is also completed for service authorities and builders, completing trench restorations on roads and car parks. An example of this type of work is the work that was completed for the Vermont Tram Extension.
Parkinson Group (Aust) operates two paver crews and a hand work crew to ensure a high level of service to its client. The plant and equipment is either less than 3 years old or is well maintained to ensure reliability. Attached is a list of the plant available for use within a contract.
Recent projects:
Eastlink project
The widening and reconstruction of Mineral Springs Crescent at Hepburn Springs for the Hepburn Shire Council.
The Westgate Bridge resurfacing and waterproofing
These jobs have required careful staging of traffic management to minimise disruptions and have been completed in areas of environmental significance.
Partnership with Alex Fraser Asphalt Productions
Parkinson Group (Aust) is closely affiliated with Alex Fraser Asphalt Productions, and is currently developing both hot and cold mix recycled asphalt mixes. When used in the correct circumstances these mixes may have considerable economic benefits as an alternative pavement design for proposed works, as well as the advantage of being environmentally sensitive, using fewer natural resources and requiring less energy to produce. Another benefit of the recycled hot mixes are better strength and wheel rutting resistance without loss of fatigue life which will give a long term cost saving to the client.
